1. When or if I started shipping them: I don't even know; some time after watching "The Cage" (July 2009) and definitely after having read taraljc's post-Cage story, but I can't pin it down much more after that.
2. What I think their challenge is: Haha. Their personalities.
3. What makes me happy about them: I usually write the AOS version, so first, it makes me happy to put Number One into the AOS-verse. Also, I think they fit together well; she's more than strong enough to handle him, and he's possibly smart enough for her.
4. What makes me sad about them: Their timeline is so epically fucked. And doomed, in TOS-land.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: Uh, well, this one is obvious. Delta radiation, anyone?
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Well, I'm OK with them ending up in a threesome with Kirk or Cait, and I guess I'm OK with either of them ending up with either of the above (that is, Pike/Kirk or One/Cait), although I'm a little suspicious of Pike/Kirk until Kirk has had a little bit more seasoning. I'll read various other pairings (Pike/Boyce comes to mind), of course.
7. My happily ever after for them: In AOS-land, they retire to the desert after One has definitely had her fill flying around a ship. In TOS-land . . . the delta radiation never happened, and they retire to the desert after One has had her fill flying around a ship. :)

1. When or if I started shipping them: This one is boosette's fault (as so many things are). I was originally sort of lukewarm on adding Kirk to the mix because, at least at the beginning of the movie, he's such a kid, but she convinced me it was OK if they waited until he was less of an infant. :)
2. What I think their challenge is: Again, personality: three very strong command-type personalities. It's really a wonder that they can get out of their own way to be happy at all. Also, Pike's on earth and One and Kirk are on two different ships, so logistics as well.
3. What makes me happy about them: Yeah, I'm not gonna lie; I like writing threesomes in general, and this trio is awfully pretty. :-D
4. What makes me sad about them: There's really no way to put all of them in the same place at the same time permanently without compromising someone's dreams.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: I think I have to go with the delta radiation in TOS-land again, because other than that I'm regretting the torture/bug moment and if that didn't happen, Kirk wouldn't really have grown up enough (in my head) for them. So it's complicated.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Well, Kirk with McCoy, or maybe Rand; Pike just with One, or maybe Boyce (if Boyce isn't with Cait), or Lt. Sit Down (er, this is part of bunny!verse), or of course maybe just Kirk; One with Cait.
7. My happily ever after for them: Kirk and One not being sent on any missions that involve deep cover or many, many months without being near Earth or somewhere where Pike is, and everyone living nice, long lives.

1. When or if I started shipping them: I don't even remember. I think you mentioned it off-handedly in a random comment once.
2. What I think their challenge is: Cait's still not sure what she's doing there, half the time.
3. What makes me happy about them: I ♥ Cait :-D
4. What makes me sad about them: That there aren't enough people writing it, because people still don't know who Cait is.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: *la la la "The Cage" never happened, and if it did, the Talosians effed up because they forgot about, you know, Cait, with whom Pike is, at the very least infatuated by that point. IMHO.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Cait with Boyce, obv; Pike and One with each other, or with Kirk, variously.
7. My happily ever after for them: I don't even know yet, other than "not dead, not Talos-ed, not delta-irradiated, and hopefully everyone gets to do everything they always wanted to do."

1. When or if I started shipping them: Oh, this one is taraljc's fault; I think the explanation is in the comment thread for this. So, maybe sometime after March but before July of 2010?
2. What I think their challenge is: You know, I'm not sure, but I think Cait has a habit of taking things not seriously that Phil would very much like to take seriously.
3. What makes me happy about them: Everything! I love my tiny!ship :-D
4. What makes me sad about them: Tiny!ship is, still, tiny.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: Considering that the canon for these two is almost non-existent, I don't have anything.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Boyce can have Pike in imachar's world, and Cait can have Pike and One in Anonymous's. What. This can happen at once.
7. My happily ever after for them: Retiring to the cabin on the Cape, even despite the winters up there. :)

Amanda/Sarek

1. When or if I started shipping them: Well, they're . . . canon. :) And I sort of inexplicably thought that TOS!Sarek was kinda cute.
2. What I think their challenge is: Oh god. Well, being two different species doesn't help. (Also the death thing in AOS.) If Amanda were a lesser woman she'd probably always feel like she has something to prove, but thank goodness, she doesn't.
3. What makes me happy about them: That Amanda can, actually, kick Sarek's ass, even though she usually chooses not to.
4. What makes me sad about them: That AOS Amanda is not so much among the living, and that TOS Amanda in the show is not as kickass as she is in the tie-ins.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: "I'm losing her! I'm losing her!"
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Huh. In my head, there's kind of a strange Amanda/Pike story that refuses to coalesce. florahart wrote a Sarek/Winona that I've always liked. I paired Sarek with an OFC at one point. But I find it difficult actually to break them up in my head, even after Amanda's untimely fridging demise.
7. My happily ever after for them: Amanda lived; they go on to adopt some parentless Vulcan kids and rebuild the society.

Ooh! Now I want to write about Sarek becoming the single father of a Vulcan orphan. In my head canon, Amanda had originally wanted to adopt a Vulcan baby before she discovered that there are no Vulcan babies up for adoption - Vulcan society is just too logical for people to be getting pregnant when they don't intend to, or for orphaned children not to be taken in by a family member. After the battle of Vulcan would be different though. Sarek could adopt a little Vulcan as a way to start his life again and remember Amanda.

TOS Sarek is SUPERSEXY and I absolutely love him. Much more than the Reboot Sarek.

I wrote my share of Sarek but mostly slash *palmsface* Amanda/Sarek stories are often too much of - hmmm - family-life-stories for me? Just not really rocking my boat. And maybe I just love to write outside of canon.

1. When or if I started shipping them: Oh, man, a million years ago, once I realized that there was this thing called always-a-girl-gender/sex-bending. And I'm really fascinated with swapping out grumpy male characters, and how exactly that plays out with the whole gender binary (grumpy men = amusing, grumpy women = bitchy). I have more Thoughts on this but they'll get too lengthy for a comment box.
2. What I think their challenge is: You know, I think it's possible that f!McCoy actually has more issues surrounding fences around her heart than m!McCoy. So that. Also, again, the fact that it's likely that m!McCoy can get away with saying things that f!McCoy can't.
3. What makes me happy about them: Strong women always make me happy! And the idea of the surgeon saving Pike's life/spine being a woman makes circ_bamboo the feminist awfully happy.
4. What makes me sad about them: Well, that Leah/Elinor McCoy would make her own life miserable pretty easily.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: ... I don't think I have any.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Hm. Kirk with, like, everyone; f!McCoy with . . . oh god, I want to pitch her into bed with Gaila and watch the fireworks, because that would be awesome. Or Pike, because the pretty. :)
7. My happily ever after for them: Oh, you know, them on a ship, and not killing each other, and Joanna visiting lots.
