Enjoyed this so very much. First of all, there should be more Pike fics. Just because. And second, I'm not a huge fan of stories that make Winona into some sort of villain, so I adore coming across stories that give her a realistic post-Narada story arc.
Love the relationship you've built between Pike and Winona here, from their back story to the issues over how he dared Jim into going to the Academy, to Winona's reactions to having to go through a virtual replay of the Kelvin. And the way they dance around each other at each stage is very believable and so much fun to watch.
Beyond that, I really loved the way Winona and Jim interact, his relationship with Bones, and all the surrounding players, particularly Number One and Dr. Boyce. Also, now that I'm done reading, I need to go get some ice cream, for which I blame you entirely. ;-)
Lovely read. I do hope you decide to do a sequel, because I really enjoyed this world and would love to see more of it, but if you end up leaving it here, it's very satisfying as well.
