I apologize for the extreme randomness, but I can't complain about this on fb for various reasons (mostly being that the mother of the recipient is one of my friends--well, actually my cousin, but still) so:

I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF THIS VERY SMALL TODDLER SWEATER I'M KNITTING AND IT JUST HIT ME ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AGO AND I STILL HAVE A SLEEVE AND A HALF AND SOME FINISHING TO GO BUT THE PATTERN IS BORING, BUT NOT BORING ENOUGH THAT I CAN KNIT WITHOUT WATCHING THE PATTERN AND TICKING OFF ROWS, AND ALSO I HATE KNITTING THINGS FLAT BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE TO SEW THEM TOGETHER LATER, SO WHY ON EARTH AM I KNITTING THIS PATTERN AFTER ALL?!

(answer: because it's cute.)

My next sweater is going to be stockinette in the round. MILES AND MILES OF MINDLESS KNITTING, WOO.

I just found about 1500 words I wrote to the purported sequel to For You I Came This Far, aka Epic Pike/Winona, and I have basically no memory of writing it at all.

It doesn't totally suck, though, and if I can find the threads of what I was doing--well, okay, the connected scenes are basically all sex and I'm afraid it may bleed over with some of the postscripts for Make Me Believe (aka Epic Pike/McCoy) if I continue.

So if not, I may just clean it up and assign it WIP Amnesty status. I don't know.

The Muppet Show: Joel Grey - "Razzle Dazzle"
speaking of CG.

omg.
yep, that's the cellist's father in my headcanon now and there is nothing you can do about it.
[livejournal.com profile] circ_bamboo: :-D

(quick explanation: Joel Grey is Jennifer Grey's father. Jennifer Grey is, of course, married to Clark Gregg.

Also, for the record, that's not Ellie's father, because in my head Ellie's parents are professors at one of the SUNYs or CUNY or something.)

[livejournal.com profile] circ_bamboo: [i store my science underground]
[no wait, i store it in the fridge]
which kinda means that tony's malibu house is perfect: science kinda underground but not, so iron man can get out easily
her: :-D
me: but the tower.
where do you put the science?
or the archery range?
her: i'm assuming the archery range is vertical and there's like anti-grav boots or suction cups involved.
because.
me: I FUCKING LOVE YOU
her: :-D
feel free to steal that, btw. ;)
me: SOMEHOW, I AM GOING TO WRITE THAT INTO SOMETHING

Title: No Such Thing (or on AO3)
Fandom: NCIS
Characters/Pairings: Ensemble + Dr. Samantha Ryan
Length: 5000 words
Rating: R for non-explicit gore/violence
Spoilers: Non-specific spoilers for s9 and canon het relationship--although I have ignored the last episode.
Warnings: Some gore/violence and significant discussion of emesis
Prompt: 24. Any contemporary fandom - any character - People should have realized that, sooner or later, pouring the liquefied remnants of corpses in the municipal water supply was going to lead to zombies.
Author’s Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] zombi_fic_ation's Zombie Fest 2012. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] adorb_eggplant for the beta. The book Abby references is Feed by Mira Grant, from which I have stolen borrowed some meta-concepts. On the other hand, Feed actually makes scientific sense, and this does not, so.

Title: Sassing by Inanimate Objects: a five-and-one (on AO3)
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic (Avengers) Universe
Summary: Five times inanimate objects at Stark Tower--well, really Tony and JARVIS--sassed Clint, and one time he got Tony back.
Characters: Clint, Tony, JARVIS; Steve, Bruce, and Natasha show up briefly.
Rating: PG for language and references to a background threesome
Content Advisory: John Cage. That requires a warning, doesn't it?
Word Count: 1300
Notes: All [livejournal.com profile] adorb_eggplant's fault. A couple weeks ago I was reading a story where a typo made it look as if a chair was sassing Clint. (No idea what story. Not important.) The rest is, they say, history. Imaginary Landscapes No. 4 is written for 12 radios and 24 performers in pairs; one performer has control of the tuner and the other the volume. It sounds about how you would imagine. The speaker that Clint buys.

Our story starts with Clint shooting arrows; big surprise. )

So, Waverly, IA (hometown, apparently, of Hawkeye) is about 2 hours from Riverside, IA, and since Shatner is into archery, that means that Kirk is, too, right?

AU Crossover? Someone? Bueller?
circ_bamboo: (avengers)
It would take about 10,000 words to explain the whole backstory but I got this text from [livejournal.com profile] adorb_eggplant (the dashes are to indicate strikethrough, like in gchat):

-dang mark ruffalo didn't zebra up my tomatoes-

And that is why we are friends.

(I cannot look at those eight words without dying of lol, for the record.)
circ_bamboo: (avengers)
SERIOUSLY. There is no excuse for this one.

Title: Happy and They're Safe
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic (Avengers) Universe
Summary: It's really not fair that only the people without super powers or suits get to learn how to dive.
Characters: Darcy Lewis, Steve Rogers, and a paper shredder
Rating: PG
Content Advisory: References to PTSD
Word Count: 1075
Notes: Direct sequel to The Alternative is Grad School (The Drysuit Remix). Probably won't make any sense without reading that first. I have no idea where this came from.

Shredding was the best part of Darcy's day.

Okay, not done done, but 'done' as in 'there is a first draft that has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and everything I intended to put in between.'

Google Docs says 30670 words. Various online word counters say anything from 29000 to 32000 so I'm just going to go with 30K for simplicity's sake. And the porn is only about 4500 words in the middle, alas.

I'm currently engaged in the first round of edits, otherwise known as 'wtf how does my tagging suck that much.' If anyone would like to aid with future edits, I'm currently a few steps short of begging accepting offers. (Email address is in my profile.)

I DRAFTED A THING AND IT IS REALLY LONG OMG.

(no, despite the date, this is not an April Fool's Day joke.)

1. Go to page 77 (or 7) of your current ms. (Page 7, as I currently have 76 pages.)
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written. (Well, not exactly. I shifted it all down a bit so it made more sense.)
4. Encourage other people to do it!

10K

Ten thousand words on the Epic Winona/Pike and there's still a lot of today left.

Also, even with the '[stuff goes here]s' I've stuck in, I'm barely halfway done with what this is supposed to accomplish, and I've got about 3 more subplots I probably need to decide what to do with before I get too much farther. Maybe. So any predictions of total wordcount would be random guesses.

I've actually been following the results of the polls, mostly, except the THREESOME bit so far, so thank you all very much.

I probably shouldn't really say anything about this but after the second half of last year, where there was just nothing for so long, I'm still surprised when something sparks my brain into action. I don't mean to sound disingenuous, but it's true.

And now, I think I'm going to go run 10K to celebrate.

I'm super-busy in real life, to the exclusion of things like 'certain aspects of personal hygiene' (I honestly didn't brush my hair for about two days straight) and 'laundry' and 'preparing food any more complicated than peanut-butter sandwiches,' but of course I haz a story in my head.

So, I present to you: A Poll.

Spoilers likely herein.

GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra )

Inglorious Basterds )

The River )

this week's NCIS )

It's surprising how much better I feel for having gotten that all off my chest.

5/17/13, date for ST:XII (yes, that says 12).

Honestly, I'm not sure I can make it through another big bang season and possibly two ship wars/olympics/wev before we get a refreshing of canon. My AUs will get even AU-er by then (oh, what am I saying; they're pretty far off as it is).

I mean, yes, I do tend to write a lot of the Trek equivalent of Marauder-era fic, which means less jossing, but still.

On the other hand, I found my Castle/NCIS crossover and, you know, other than a complete lack of plot, it's still pretty awesome. (If I do say so myself.) That should keep me occupied for now.

(I also found a surprising amount of unposted porn. I should maybe consider completing some of the stories around the porn, or something. Or work on any of my 2000 other WIPs. But I digress.)
circ_bamboo: (Default)
I'm reasonably certain I'm the only doofus person writing a totally self-indulgent story that's an AU at least partially set in the late 1980s/early 1990s having to do with gay men in Iowa, wtf, but it's possible that other people might have an academic interest in a searchable database of AIDS education posters from around the world.

Over 6000 words, wtf.

I um...

... may have started !sequel to last year's big bang? (which is fake-titled Christine and the Duke)

I'm pretty sure there are 2000 things I've promised other people to write first but goddamnit it was the only thing that actually wanted to be written. I don't know. Writer's block stinks. (Or maybe it's not actually writer's block; maybe it's just having gotten over the initial honeymoon period of fic-writing in a particular fandom. Who knows.)

Except of course I don't have a plot, just, you know, a vague idea of what happens (Christine goes to visit her sister in the country; falls madly in love with neighbor [an OC], who may be a murderer--which is Regency Plot #22, in case you're wondering). We'll see how this goes. Or doesn't go.

I may yet scrap everything. Who knows.
