Okay, so:

In 2010 (my first year writing in fandom) I wrote (and posted) about 75,000 words.

In 2011, I wrote (and posted) about 53,000 words.

In 2012, I wrote (and posted) about 130,000 words.

So far, counting two original WsIP (one with [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire) and NaNoWriMo (also an original WIP) and everything from AO3, I'm at about 205,000 words on the year. Minus the unposted stuff (60K NaNoWriMo as of today; the other two are 7K and 16K as of this moment), that's still 122,000 words posted on AO3, which is very close to what I did last year. I don't really have anything on the horizon for fannish stuff, although I may dig around fandom_stocking and see what I can do.

I have no idea what I'm doing. It's awesome.

Argh, sorry

It's been a while since I updated, but I am not, in fact, dead.

So!

  • I turned in my [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang with 25,000 words and then finished the actual first draft with 29,500. It's . . . I mean, it's done? But I might have some macrostructure issues. We'll see.

  • [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and I finished Whoever Fights Monsters, technically the sequel to her Slow Dancing in a Burning Room but sort of a standalone, a White Collar/James Bond (OOQ) crossover. It's over 107,000 words long, which, holy shit. And of course we've already started planning for part III. Of course.

  • I'm staring at two things right now (most others have sort of fallen off the radar at the moment; yeah, I know): my [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest assignment, and a quasi-original-fic sort of thing. With the latter I'm desperately trying to get rid of the endemic racism in a world where there are elves and vampires and werewolves, but only since the '60s or something. (Yeah, I'm doing the crappiest worldbuilding ever. I do not care at all.)

  • Related to that, [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and I are celebrating what we're calling TROPEFEST 2013: write whatever the hell you want and worry about how many tropes it's falling into later. Anyone who wants to join is free to! I'd have banners and icons but I'm terrrrrible with that sort of thing.

  • The kitten (who is almost three, by the way) has been eating cookies out of the cupboard. Even though we put a rubber band across the handles so she shouldn't be able to get in. That doesn't seem to stop her. *sigh*

  • I survived my parents visiting. Barely. )

  • You?

*facepalm*

Why, yes; yes, I did just write an extra 600 words past brain-death time so [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and I could hit 40,000 words total on our White Collar/Skyfall Epic Crossover of Doom.

Thanks for asking.

(This thing is going to hit, like, 80K easily.)

(Also, cowriting is kind of addictive.)

(I should note that we haven't even been writing for two weeks yet.)
circ_bamboo: (kirk_saltshaker)
  • First and foremost, I'm one of the contestants in the current round of the Marvel Throwdown, with a pairing of Bruce/Betty and a prompt of "date night" with a few other things, so I'm scrambling through that.

  • Then I'm trying to finish [livejournal.com profile] jou's Xmas/birthday fic, which is at around 9000 words and will probably end up in the 13,000-15,000-word range.

  • Then [livejournal.com profile] feels_like_fire and I have a giant White Collar/Skyfall crossover we're plotting out, and that's a lot of fun at the moment.

  • Then the Tony/Pepper/Steve Thing of Massiveness and Feels(TM) is poking at my brain again.

  • Somewhere on the back burner, I've got:
    • A sequel to a thing that I wrote more than two years ago that I've got about 9000 words of and could stand to finish, even though I don't think anyone cares about the story

    • The rest of the Stevetasha series (there's an overarching thing that I could finish)

    • The sequel to the 00Q thing I wrote, which . . . I have no idea what's going to happen, really

And then all the other things crowding into my consciousness.

How are you-all?
circ_bamboo: (kirk_saltshaker)
I just found about 1500 words I wrote to the purported sequel to For You I Came This Far, aka Epic Pike/Winona, and I have basically no memory of writing it at all.

It doesn't totally suck, though, and if I can find the threads of what I was doing--well, okay, the connected scenes are basically all sex and I'm afraid it may bleed over with some of the postscripts for Make Me Believe (aka Epic Pike/McCoy) if I continue.

So if not, I may just clean it up and assign it WIP Amnesty status. I don't know.

Turned in draft of [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang at 19,000 words; finished draft and sent off to beta #1 ([livejournal.com profile] adorb_eggplant) and artist with about 26,000 words. (Whoops. As usual, the porn got out of control.)

Turned in draft of [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbigbang with 8300 words (out of 10,000 minimum). Draft not finished, but at least outlined and in the ballpark of 70% done. (No porn in this one to get out of control.)

Need to: finish Sherlock draft; start/finish avengersfest story; decide whether I'm doing the Avengers Exchange or not.

Then I need to decide if I'm writing the story that the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang reads like a sequel to or not. (AKA: the one where Pepper sits Tony down and explains to him the difference between 'things acceptable in a boss' and 'things acceptable in a boyfriend.') (Porn might get out of control in that one, too, if I ever write it.)

Then I should maybe write some Trekfic because good lord it's been a long time. [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire left me a couple of prompts, and I still have a lot of a PikeOne bingo card to finish . . . (where the porn may also get out of control, hee hee.)

Oh god, I wrote almost 5000 words today and just under 7000 in the last two days but I hit my 80% for the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang.

I think my brain is mush.

What I have left to write: Mostly porn. YAAAAY!

Go me!

MEME:

1. Go to page 77 (or 7) of your current wip.
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines/sentences – and post them as they’re written.

'Current' is to be interpreted liberally, although it's due the 7th so I ought to get cracking.

If anyone ever needs to write French into a story but doesn't speak French, let it be known that I do. Well, not well (il y a eu neuf années que je parlais français régulièrement), but I can look at what you're trying to say and what Google Translate gave you, and I can fix it so it's idiomatic.

I can also differentiate (marginally) between Parisian French and Québecois French, if that's necessary. In that way where I woke up the other day thinking about 'crème glacée' and being confused because wait, no, that's not 'ice cream,' except it is.

(C'est vrai? Oui, c'est vrai.)

I'm sure there are hundreds of people in my extended web of Livejournal friends who speak French much better than I do, but I just wanted to put this out there.

I really do need an icon that says, "IM IN UR FANDOM, POLY-IN UP UR SHIPZ" or something like.
circ_bamboo: (Default)
  • Finishing one's [livejournal.com profile] zombi_fic_ation story two days after it's due but with mod permission

  • Convincing one's friend ([livejournal.com profile] adorb_eggplant) who has no clue about the fandom one wrote it in (NCIS) to beta-read anyway

  • The gay nerds booth at Pride Festival

  • Marching in one's 10th Pride Parade (not 10th year; I doubled up a lot)

  • ...where there was exactly one protester

  • ...and not getting the annual Pride sunburn

  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

  • Beer with coffee in it (but not coffee with beer in it)

  • Blood orange sorbet

  • A discussion with a friend on how to re-cast the Harry Potter movies

I hope you-all had a good weekend, too!

I'm halfway tempted to start a community for people who manage to write 15K+-word fics at exactly the wrong time of the year for any applicable big bangs, to match them with completely random artists and mixers just for the hell of it. That is, if one doesn't exist already. (I bet it does. Also, I'm kind of lazy and it sounds like work.)

This has been brought to you by For You I Came This Far and 7000 words out of FSM only knows how many (because the stupid thing spawned a plot, wtf) of Tony/Pepper/Bruce and 3000-ish words of, of all things, a Sherlock AU that promises to be appropriately massive as they've barely met and I have so many more bad puns to fit in. Also the letter F, as in, "F you, brain. I was perfectly happy with only one fandom."

Also a severe amount of indecision regarding the current round of Star Trek Big Bang. The timing is fine; I'm just lacking in plots at the moment.

Avengers this time.

Honestly, I have no opinion whatsoever, but I'm at the point where I have to decide.

Do we know anything about Coulson's cellist other than, um, 'she moved to Portland'?

Because if not, and even if so, I got this.

Remixing?

If for some reason you've ever wanted to wrangle one of my completed stories into something entirely different, I've signed up for Remix Madness here, so do so to your heart's content!

(I mean, you have to offer your stuff up for a remix first, but hey.)

Okay, not done done, but 'done' as in 'there is a first draft that has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and everything I intended to put in between.'

Google Docs says 30670 words. Various online word counters say anything from 29000 to 32000 so I'm just going to go with 30K for simplicity's sake. And the porn is only about 4500 words in the middle, alas.

I'm currently engaged in the first round of edits, otherwise known as 'wtf how does my tagging suck that much.' If anyone would like to aid with future edits, I'm currently a few steps short of begging accepting offers. (Email address is in my profile.)

I DRAFTED A THING AND IT IS REALLY LONG OMG.

(no, despite the date, this is not an April Fool's Day joke.)

Ten thousand words on the Epic Winona/Pike and there's still a lot of today left.

Also, even with the '[stuff goes here]s' I've stuck in, I'm barely halfway done with what this is supposed to accomplish, and I've got about 3 more subplots I probably need to decide what to do with before I get too much farther. Maybe. So any predictions of total wordcount would be random guesses.

I've actually been following the results of the polls, mostly, except the THREESOME bit so far, so thank you all very much.

I probably shouldn't really say anything about this but after the second half of last year, where there was just nothing for so long, I'm still surprised when something sparks my brain into action. I don't mean to sound disingenuous, but it's true.

And now, I think I'm going to go run 10K to celebrate.

I'm super-busy in real life, to the exclusion of things like 'certain aspects of personal hygiene' (I honestly didn't brush my hair for about two days straight) and 'laundry' and 'preparing food any more complicated than peanut-butter sandwiches,' but of course I haz a story in my head.

So, I present to you: A Poll.
