OKAY.

Can we have a brief conversation about how I am a horrible person? Or not, whichever. But I am, indeed, a horrible person--the kind of person who has stories written for her but doesn't notice for a week. A WEEK. A FULL SEVEN DAYS. IT WAS POSTED ON NOVEMBER 10th AND TODAY IS NOVEMBER 17th AND I FINALLY NOTICED AND READ IT.

Yeah, I've been busy, but THAT IS NO EXCUSE.

So, without further ado, I present you a recommendation for the story I got for [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest: An Honest Exchange, by anonymous, obviously (reveals are the 22nd).

It is about five thousand words long and it's rated E/NC-17 and it contains: Pepper still with Extremis, Natasha and Pepper talking about stuff, Natasha meta, Natasha and Steve sparring, honest conversations about desires and needs, straightforward requests for what one wants/needs, consent, and oh yeah, hot porn. :D

GO YE FORTH AND READ AND LEAVE LOVE TO MAKE UP FOR ME BEING TERRIBLE, PLEASE.

Do you want late-Victorian Avengers steampunk/gaslight fantasy with atmospheric worldbuilding and tantalizing glimpses of the world beyond just our two characters (Natasha and Clint)?

Yes, you do.

Here. Natasha/Clint, R, about 3300 words, written for me by an anon at the [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest comm.

Enjoy!

This story is kind of fucking awesome and, I think, my favorite always-female Tony Stark to date. And yes, I've read a lot of always-female Tony Starks.

There's really something to be said for coming up with a non-gendered name for the armor, I'll admit. But primarily I like this because being Antonia Stark instead of Anthony Stark, even born in 1970 (or whenever), is going to come with a whole heaping set of problems that are different, and the author addressed them in a way that I liked best.

YMMV, of course.

The collection is open! Go ye forth and read!

And definitely read this one: Cold Shot (Indecision, Revision, But No Reversal Remix). Because it's a remix of one of my stories, about One having to shoot Pike, and it's like . . . Okay, my story is small, and very limited point of view, because the narrator is Phil Boyce who is, if you didn't notice, neither Pike nor One. But this story is everything I didn't and probably couldn't write.

Which is a long-winded way of saying that the remix is vastly superior to the original and you should go read it and leave my lovely anon lots of nice comments and kudos.

And, for the record, I may or may not have written a metric crapton of remixes and if anyone on the planet can guess all of them before the reveal, I will personally mail you a box of random stuff. (Awesome random stuff, not, you know, junk.)

(Note: The 'remix' that is not anon due to the fact that I failed at remixing and succeeded at writing a cracktastic sequel does not count.)

I suppose I could do something with my Saturday evening other than watch football and read fic . . . but why? /shatner

I highly recommend this one, an AU set in 1920s Paris, Chapel/Rand, NC-17, really quite lovely in so many ways. Christine's journey is wonderful.

TINY!

Okay, so my foot hurts because I'm an idiot and think I can do things like run . . . actually I still don't know why it hurts, but [livejournal.com profile] boosette promised me a Dinosaur AU ficlet because it hurts and she wrote this and IT IS MADE OF AMAZING IN SO MANY WAYS and you should go read it. NOW.

I mean, assuming you've read Nine Years Later and Four and a Half Years Hence. Which you probably have if you're reading this.

(ETA: And also this one, which she posted as part of my Five Acts.)

BUT TINY!

[livejournal.com profile] boosette wrote me REGENCY!AU WITH DINOSAURS!

AND IT IS AMAZING AND I LOVE IT (and her) WITH EVERY OUNCE OF MY SOUL.

Read it here. Or here.

(If you have read my Nine Years Later [or AO3] this might make more sense. If not, well, REGENCY!AU with dinosaurs; relevant pairings are Kirk/McCoy and Pike/One and yes, I wrote a gay couple in the Regency. Two, actually. Deal.)

The [livejournal.com profile] where_no_woman exchange collection is live, and there are so many awesome stories in it, but I have to mention the one for me, Rayleigh Scattering, an amazing multi/genfic with such lovely descriptions and Gaila being SMART and SCIENCE-Y and I really can't mention how much I adore it enough.

It's not possible that anyone could look through the list of stories and not know which one I wrote, but due to the rules of the exchange, I will not discuss it for another week.

But go read all of them, because they are all wonderful.

(I also beta-read several of them. This does not make them more or less awesome; they are awesome without me.)
